Green Schools Initiative Grants
The Green Schools Initiative seeks to support the design and building of high-performance green school buildings across the Commonwealth using the Massachusetts Collaborative for High-Performance Schools (MA-CHPS) criteria as the guideline. The Green Schools Initiative offers an array of public benefit services; design support; and renewable energy Installation grants to eligible school projects in Massachusetts.
Applicants must complete and submit a formal application for either a Design Grant or an Installation Grant. A separate application must be submitted for each proposed project. Applicants seeking a Design Grant may not apply for an Installation Grant for the same project site at the same time. Applications may be made during fiscal year 2008 (July 1, 2007 - June 30, 2008).
- Design Grant Applicants: Public K-12 applicants must have submitted a Statement of Interest to the MSBA and received authorization to proceed, or have received MSBA and/or DOEd approval for design and construction funding. Charter schools and educational collaboratives must submit an application letter to the MTC describing their intent to design and build a high-performance green school that is certifiable to Massachusetts Collaborative for High-Performance School standards and have received MTC approval prior to submitting their application.
- Installation Grant Applicants: applicants are required to have been certified as a Massachusetts High-Performance Green School according the MA-CHPS version 1.0 criteria available at: http://www.masstech.org/renewableenergy/green_schools/gs_publications.html
